We counted 43 species this weekend. There's nothing really unusual in this
list, though it is higher than we've ever counted here on the first weekend
in June (40 was previous high). We spotted a single Cedar Waxwing, both
Orioles and 5 woodpecker species. Speaking of resilient creatures.the
Bluebirds that had their babies killed on Wednesday have a new nest nearly
complete in one of the vacated Swallow boxes. They are all business. The
Tree Swallows, on the other hand, are loafing and apparently not in a hurry
to get on with things.
