We had a 38 specie weekend, which is a fairly high count for recent weeks.
This included some really unusual birds for here at this time of year.  We
spotted a Yellow Warbler in the bush garden on Friday evening, then I heard
a Common Yellowthroat singing in the pond thicket this morning (I've seen
them here during migration, but never heard one sing).  There were at least
two Read-headed Woodpeckers calling in the woodlot across the road yesterday
morning and then this evening we spotted a juvenile E. Towhee in the yard.
Also, we added Wood Ducks, which is a first here and takes our "house list"
to 108.  I'd been fairly sure I'd seen Wood Ducks fly over before, but this
time they were close enough to get a positive ID!
