Dear Stuart (Lecky). It almost certainly the result of the Windows characters conflicting with the (most likely UNIX character set) on the server running this service. You probably saw "r=E9sum=E9" for the accented word or the like as poor old Freelists tried to figure out the Alt+keypad 0233 generated accented e character. I have had similar problems with my on-line applications through one jobs Web service that cannot handle the proper word, which they explained to me was because their Oracle database couldn't handle "non-standard" characters. It also removed the compound ae (Alt+keypad 0230) in Curriculum Vitae.
