What you'll find is TONS of propaganda from the computer manufacturers
that will convince you to leave it turned-on all the time so that it
will wear-out quicker so that they can then sell you a new one.
As to convenience....
I too will get up in the middle of the night to check something on the web.
It takes this machine less than 1min (actually about 35 to 40 sec), to be
powered-up, booted into OpenDos 7.01 and have Arachne connected to the web.
