Indeed. I called Audible.com last Friday to complain about inaccessibility and found that they had great difficulty understanding the basic concept of using the computer non-visually. I ended up sending them an email which explains the facts of life and points them in the direction of proper ARIA implementation.

What I noticed is that dynamically refreshable areas of the site web pages, such as your library, wish list or search results, are not being picked up by NVDA. This suggests to me that they ought to use the ARIA API to ensure that these areas are picked up by screen readers. So far, I have not received a response from Audible, despite the fact that their help is stated as 24/7 and the fact that I sent the email by reply to a named representative, not just their general contact inbox. I'll keep this list posted on any result.

On a slightly different topic, has anyone heard confirmation that the new Victor Reader Stream now supports Audible?

Paul

HiSteve,
I have been a user of Audible.com and now audible.co.uk for over 20 years. I
never had any trouble playing samples and downloading my chosen books.
What in the name of all that is bananas have they done to this site?
I have tried all the tips and tricks discussed here without success using
either NVDA or Jaws14.
What sort of suicide trip are these manics on? I can't wait to cancel my
subscription after I acquire my 3 credits.
Any help with this most ludicrous site would be appreciated.
PS. I rang the help phone number state-side in desperation this morning and
guess what! I get a talking moronic robot that keeps repeating what I say
with no further progress! This beats all and I dread to think what they are
doing to my Visa card!

Hi,

I don't think you would need to press pass through. Just press Insert-Z to
turn off virtual mode then press space bar. Now you can tab through the
menu items.

Or download it to a phone, it is much slicker than doing it on the PC. I do
it on Android but I have also done it on iPhone too.

All the best

Steve

Has anybody been unable to download books from the Audible UK site lately?
If so, is there a work around with Jaws? When I press enter on the download
link, nothing happens and I'm just taken back to the library.

I am told that there is some sort of sub menu and to press pass key and
spacebar to adtivate it. What is the pass key I need to press?

I'm really frustrated as I've been able to download books happily for years
till now.

If anybody can help, I'd be very much obliged. I've sent an email to
Audible but don't anticipate a satisfactory reply, just the bog standard
one.

Thanks and best wishes, a very frustrated Julie.
