There is also Dragon dictate app for the I-phone that is supposed to convert
speech to text that can then be copied and pasted into messages, for
example. Not used it myself yet. Has anyone else?

Cheers

In the UK Siri cannot do a lot of the stuff regarding the web and maps stuff
at the moment and a lot of the business integration stuff is yet to come.
This is probably just an update away and a matter of time so it depends on
what you need Siri for at the moment in the short term. For setting
appointments and more internal things it should work. Here is a reference:
http://www.macstories.net/news/there-are-some-siri-limitations-outside-the-u
s/

There is some consensus that a lot of the extra power in the iPhone 4S is
used by Siri and certainly the iPhone 4 is still a very good phone minus the
Siri.

The trick for some people is to use "touch typing" mode on the iPhone. This
is where you slide through the letters and the character is printed as you
release. It still takes some getting used to but I do know people who
manage well with it too, so it can be done.

How is Siri limitted in the UK? I'm due for an upgrade tomorrow and Symbian
is out of the question so I'm left with the Iphone. If Siri is not what the
glossy adverts claim then I might go for the original
Iphone4 as it will bring the monthly cost down. If not then I can get a like
new one from Amazon for £300 or the old 3GS model for £140.
The reason why I want a Iphone is that a lot of my favourite apps are
accessible and as I have a Ipod! I have the experience of using a IOS
device. Texting is a concern as I I'm still slow with texting as practising
on the Ipod hasn't really increased my speed dromatically.
