I went for a walk behind Edgewood College this afternoon. There was a pretty
spectacular fallout of Palm and Yellow-rumped Warblers. I estimate there
were approximately 50 of each species within a 1/4 mile stretch. They were
everywhere, and most were foraging on the ground. I also saw my FOY
Swainson's Thrush, Warbling Vireo, Gray Catbird, Blue-winged Warbler, and
Northern Waterthrush. Around the Ho Nee Um area, the Palm Warbler onslaught
continued as well as a few Least Flycatchers, a Willow Flycatcher, Common
Yellowthroat, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Red-eyed Vireo, Orange-crowned
Warbler, Field Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrows, and lots of White-throated
Sparrows. Also a very cool, and very large, snapping turtle sunning on the
trail.
