Win 9x clients, if Workgroup name is set differently than the domain name it will not may not display. The net view will use the machine's workgroup/domain by default. To see if you have multiple workgroups/domain.. Browse the network. When I (or anyone anywhere) do a "net view" or browse network neighborhood, I only see about 250 of our 800 computers. We have about 35 different locations on our WAN, and the computers I see are from 6 or 7 of them. I cannot think of anything unique about these 6 or 7 sites. They're just branches (work at a bank) and they're all setup the same with the same kind of routers, servers, etc. When I look at our WINS database, all 800 computers are there. No computers here are running the browser service, so they all rely on WINS for netbios stuff. The majority of our workstations are NT 4 still without AD-awareness installed. We do have a server running WINS, which is a 2000 server, and all computers have that set as their WINS server. Has anyone come across such a thing or have any ideas?
