Yes, thanks... I also thought initially the Video card was the
problem... but that turned out to not be the problem, as the RIS client
works fine when deploying Win XP without SP1. It is a Win SP1 problem.

Thanks Jason for your reply. Yes, all the steps you say we've done and
they
work. What doesn't work is when we finally try to install the
risetup-ed
image into new computers... it is THEN that the computer hangs during
installation. Have been able to actually deploy Win XP SP1 thru RIS to
new
clients?

Are you trying to install a Flat version of WinXP Sp1 or a Image version
from a RIS server.

I was able to recreate and admin share of WinXP, use the update.exe to
slip
it into the admin share and then ran risetup.exe -add.

This lets you add a flat version to your RIS server.

Here's the MS link for it
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/spdepl
oy.a
sp

Near the bottom of the page is Scenario 1: Installing Windows XP
integrated
with the service pack

Those are the steps I followed to get it to work.

Our RIS server is just running the RIS patches NOT SP3

Let's keep it Windows 2000 ... The only (and last) good MS OS!

XP sucks for anything but home use (and I'm talking about XP Pro, I use
it
at home to connect to my Win2K AD Domain :) ...)
