TVTM
Samplitude is a great daw, and the work that has been put into its
accessibility solution is phenominal in the timeframe that its been started to
now with the amount of accessibility it offers is impressive.
I’d like to add this as well, for me I understand my most effective learning
means is through doing.
Unfortunately, I’m not super good at applying, this was one of my major
problems even back in school. I could read and understand a concept, but unless
I get a hands on example in applying it I would be mostly stumped, there always
seemed to be a step that I would miss because it wasn’t apparent to me in the
chain of processes.
my teachers summed it up to a weird learning case.
boy I was TVTM way back then as well. lol anyway,
I could answer questions posted on various topics individually, I would be able
to assist other students in individual parts of the processes, but when it came
to exicuting the entire chain of functions to come up with an answer I would
always make a mistake, I would test my self on many ocasions with new topics to
try to get to the bottom of this weird learning block that I had. Fortunately I
was bright enough in other areas that teachers recognised that I was indeed
trying and they would just put together the most difficult form of the
questions in question and have a 5 to 10 minute sit down with me. and I would
be good.
this email is turning out to be quite long lol, anyway
I remember this one time doing calculous, proof by induction.
I had to write out in braille, about 4 pages of steps and functions, and my
teacher ended up sitting with me for about 45 minutes getting me to get
everything, she left me with around 5 practice sums after that and by the end
of recess I had finnished all 5 on my own, 20 pages of mathematics. (all
correct)
all this blah, blah, blah,
to say this.
I just am humbled by all the assistance that you guys give, because without you
I wouldn’t even know how to open this daw to get started, even after sonar.
samplitude just seems weird, and I don’t attribute wierdness with lack of
quality or anything along those lines, I just use wierdness as a personal view
on something new and enchanting.
Once I master samplitude it wouldn’t be weird anymore.
sidenote:
I was able to be up and producing in sonar in about 4 to 8 hours, because one
of my friends who was much more advanced and working in a professional studio
with sonar had a sit down with me, to the point where a few months lator I was
going back to teaching him things that I had picked up along the way, like JPR
does with samplitude.
so, thanks guys for all that you do, but unfortunately I’m The Village
Troublemaker
and I hope that you can endure my weird learning case.
thankyou . I’m here all week.

I too would like to add a thought. Learning a new DAW is never an instant
overnight thing especially when the way that you actually get any work done has
completely changed. Still it can be done although I know the learning curve
when compared to say Sonar 8.5.3 is fairly steep although you can do a lot more
with objects in Samplitude than you ever could in Sonar. Having said all that
I think the learning curve for other options such as Pro Tools is even steeper.

I like to add one more thing, Phil Steve and everyone has open our eyes to so
much, but it’s easy to confuse a shift left or Shift or right arrow verses Alt
left or right arrow.
We still need a group session to explain to some of us where our short comings
are. The Tutorials we do have are very well put together though.

Hey Liu, I think a workshop or Team talk session would be a good suggestion for
all of us to have, and especially with someone on the list who can demo this in
a real time environment. Like you, I’m in the same boat, and no matter how I
study the HTML document, I’m running in to the same problem.
There’s a lot of information here, and unlike the CT tutorials and configuring
sonar before getting up and running is a little more complex. Some of us get it
better than others.
At least the VIP window now makes a little sense to me now, but there is still
a lot to learn. Not enough time to work on projects while you’re learning.
I’ve manage to get a recording but only two bars or so. I haven’t figured out
midi tracks verses audio tracks yet, and I haven’t figured out how to make my
keyboards to talk with the program as of yet. JPR sent us a link to a download,
and I installed the program. But yet I haven’t had a chance to match up my INS
files for my boards. Nor have I’ve been able to get the instruments from the
independents pro to work.
I would love it if we could all share ideas on how to have things explained
just a little more but maybe where it’s a little more understandable. So far,
what we have is good if you are not a beginner in this program. Once we get an
idea on what to do, we’ll be off and running.

uhh... I have no idea how to go about doing this, because shift+left arrow and
shift+right arrow don’t do it for me.
it says something about range end extended by transport.
how do I select an object, I feel like this information is somewhere in the
html, but I can’t seem to put jaws on the line with that information.
thanks for the patience guys

Well usually in order to do that you would actually have to select something.

Subject: [vipaudioaccess] a few tips
TVTM
hi guys, so I’m back to wanting to quantize again,
is it only possible to quantise by creating an object?
is it only possible to interact with an object for quantisation by first
pressing f9?
I’m hoping not, because that’s how I got quantisation to work last night.
that was so many steps to quantise 8 bars of music.
I remember being able to just press t at the start of the selection, t at the
end. alt left arrow and ctrl q and boom
how come that doesn’t work anymore? or am I doing it the rong way?
when I push alt left arrow it says:
no selected object check your timeline zoom ratio with ctrl plus windows +
left arrow or select an object
I’m confuzzled.
please help? and thankies.
