Hi Everyone,
This Saturday will be the Lower Hatchie Count. We will meet at Woodard's Store
in the Three Point community just west of Henning on Hwy. 87 at 9:30 AM. As
per the previous count, we are limiting the number of total participants to 10
and face masks are mandatory. The weather forecast is calling for mid-90s with
a chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms (just a typical Mid-South summer
day), so prepare with sunscreen and plenty of fluids. Please bring lunch and
snacks to eat in the field. Cost is $3.00 to go to NABA for the count report
and database upkeep. Lower Hatchie is usually a very good count for many
Sulphur species including Southern Dogface. It will be interesting to see how
the numbers are this year as it seems as if the Sulphurs are down in general
after having a delayed start. Lower Hatchie has traditionally had some of the
highest numbers of individual butterflies each year for Tennessee counts, so
fingers crossed that happens again.
Please let me know if you plan on coming.
See you Saturday!
