there is no prompt but f6 works on NT4

jim/ chris

There is not an F6 prompt on an nt4.0 install. "S" to specify is the =
=3D
method here. If I try to proceed without "specifying" a device, the =3D
install does not continue. I suppose it's been a while since anyone has =
=3D
done this NT stuff?? I really think it has some thing to do with the =
=3D
larger disks. I know NT has boot partition constraints. but I am not =
=3D
sure about physical disk constraints.???

anybody???

You need to press F6 right when the blue screen appears (right when the =
=3D
=3D3D
CD starts loading). If you have ever installed Windows 2000, you will =
=3D
=3D3D
notice that it states to press F6 to install a mass storage driver =3D3D
before the kernel loads. This is the same location you would press F6.

Sounds like NT is already detecting the drives and you don't need to add =
=3D
=3D3D
the scsi drivers doesn't it? Did you try going through the install =3D3D
without that step? JK

Hi Everyone

Got a problem here. I am reinstalling NT 4.0 tse onto newer hard =3D3D
drivers. 18GB scsi. (old ones were 9.0GBSCSI). I am using an NT 4.0 TSE =
=3D
=3D3D
sp3 install CD_rom.

When I get to the section where it says press S to specify another Mass =
=3D
=3D3D
storage device and put in your manufacturer diskette. I do this. I =
=3D3D
select the Adaptec ultra 160 Scsi device and proceed. ref: (My ScSi =
=3D3D
card at boot up says AIC 7899)

Next the install tells me it cannot see any hard drives. The hardrive =
=3D
=3D3D
are detected at startup though?

Is this because the HDD are too big. Do I need to get hold of a NT4.0 =
=3D
=3D3D
TSE intall disk bundled with a later SPack? HELP? PLEASE

Regards
