Keep in mind that TScale's effectiveness is largely dependent on the applications. In my experience, TScale works best with the big stupid apps, like SAP, Peoplesoft, Meditech, Oracle, etc, etc.. If you're only using Office, TScale gives maybe a 5-10% advantage instead of 35%. (I'm sure there are some back-door shenanigans going on at MS where their apps just "happen" to run more efficiently than other non-MS apps.. which is why TScale doesn't work as well with them.) Take a look at Tscale (http://www.rtosoft.com). It will pay for itself and then some by increasing your servers user capacity. In my experience about 35% more capacity or getting 4 server capacity with only 3 servers is my rule of thumb. If you are estimating 7 servers you could get by with as few as 5. A nice bonus is some apps will run noticeably faster. >>> Miguel-Guzman@xxxxxxx 9/24/2003 10:52:14 AM >>> Hello, Currently I am running 17 Win NT TSE servers w/2GB or RAM; these servers will go to their knees when they get to the 40 user count. I have been told to get us NEW servers so we all finally agreed to purchase ProLiant BL20p G2 X3.06-512 Dual Processor Blade servers with 4GB of RAM. I am going through a brainstorm here trying to figure out how many servers to ask for... The average user takes up form 24MB to 45MB of RAM per session; and we would like to be able to always have an off-line server or at least if one fails to not decrease the users performance. So far I have counted 1 server for CSG & NFuse, 1 server for STA, and 7 MetaFrame XP Win 2003 servers. Does this seem like a good amount?
