I agree, the spider-web effect the customer noted is most likely the light engine failure depicted on the Sony website as "looks like a roadmap". Hope you have access to Sony website. I doubt it's a spider web unless it's right on the backside of the screen....any other area would be out of focus (dust spots included). Also, it wouldn't be missing green only....
