Ewwww, that sounds messy!!! I wouldn't seal it that way, I'd pull the crt off the frame mount (with yoke and assys), loosen spring loaded bolts and remove them, gently pop the seal with a flat blade screwdriver (if needed), dry the seal and mating surfaces, and apply silicone sealant to the gasket and surfaces......then reseal/reassemble it. Ummm, would you seal the heads of a gasoline motor like above ^^^ or below VVV ???
