Graham,

New one on me!
Are you referring to a plate on the P/B or in the tactile paving?
At the risk of sounding to belligerent your client would be who? (the LA
in which case they should 'know better' or a third party who will want
the site adopted?)
What is the objection to the use of tactile cones ? Is it a maintenance
issue (we have sought to get around this with 'brushless' BIC tactiles
which 'if' a failure occurs still vibrate)
Has the idea of moving away from tactiles been cleared with the local
visually impaired group(s)and how will the 'non-standard' nature of this
site be communicated to such visually impaired users (we still have
trouble telling people about tactile cones although its not as bad as
when we first installed-15 years ago!)
And last but by no means least (and excuse me mentioning this one ) How
the H are you going to convince the audit commission that that site
passes??

Tony

I've just been asked to look into providing these as my client doesn't
like the idea of cones. I have a vague memory that in the early days of
Puffin crossing these were trailed but I haven't heard of their use
since.

Can anyone shed any light on current providers please ?
