Depends on he rack I guess. 

Eric's rack can be disconnected, flipped up sideways (like opening a
Dormobile top) and carried easily by one person. It's VERY solid but also
surprisingly light. If the "gutter legs" were to be covered with felt there
would be very little chance of major paint damage.
