Where do I find a Rabbit reservoir? Are they still available and (hopefully not
a silly question) what year?

I went through many hurdles to get E-brakes on the '59 with the later tranny
but I'd rather have a third back up. They keep it from rolling in neutral but I
doubt they would do anything but delay impact. Hopefully I can adjust the
tension up front some more because I have the rear shoes dragging on the drum
already.

You need one of these:

http://www.wolfgangint.com/Parts/Master+Cylinder+Adapter+Kit/ ; <-- This is what
Terry is trying to reproduce.  It's a chunk of aluminum and two bolts with a
boot.

They include the instructions with it.

You'll need one of each of these:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1973-Volkswagen-Transporter/Master-Cylinder-Brake-System/Fenco-Reman/_/N-iph7tZ8kn47Z1z13xo2 ;
 a 1971-79 master cylinder
and a vw rabbit brake fluid resevoir.

Here's a little article on the subject:
http://www.type2.com/library/brakes/dualmas.htm

You'll also need a Tee and a short brake line, both you can get from any FLAPS.

Now, I will tell you that I had a couple of spacers made up to adapt a Chevy
S10 setup into a bus.  I have not installed either of these yet.  Why did I
look into this?  One: The price of the parts.  When Wolfgang and Bus Boys
started having a run on their kits, the prices of the master cylinders and
reservoirs shot up.  Try $120 for just the reservoir alone.  When Wilson's went
out of business, I snagged 4 Rabbit Reservoirs and 5 late Bus Master
Cylinders.. (Sorry, those are spoken for).  Two: The S10 has a bigger piston
that the late bus Master Cylinder.  Even though the late bus M/C is a good unit
it was meant to be used with a Servo, by using a M/C with a bigger piston
diameter, I can get better brake response.  When I get around to it I'll let you
 know how it turns out.

For Dual Circuit Brakes, it's a great system and it gives you piece of mind
that if your 50 year old brake system has a problem , you'll at least be able
to stop.

I know a machinist.  He makes parts for me from time to time.  That's how I did
mine.  He made 6 for me.  I still have the drawing I gave him.
You have to get a late year bay bus master cylinder.  That is the hard part.
