Whereas this is correct, updating by the computer is always the best way of
ensuring that you are indeed getting the latest update on time. This is
because the firmware update method over the phone uses a separate physical
server to download the updates, and uses a different mechanism for
establishing which new updates are available. There is often a lag of days,
and sometimes weeks between when a firmware update is available via the
computer, and when it is made available over the phone. Note that this is a
very simplified explanation, but this is the reason why I always recommend
people try to update via the computer first.
