using home insurance or credit card insurance for homes can work, but be
careful to check the excess. if it is like £200 then you're usually better off
not to claim and simply to buy a new phone.

as its not only the excess but the no claims you lose out on.

an awful lot of people forget the excess.

Not if you get the phone ensured you don't need a contract for that also a
lot of home insurance companies like domestic and general for example have
phone cover as part of their out and about policy I think it's called. So
realistically speaking you don't need to even bother with contract phone
insurance because it's not necessary because you can get home insurance that
covers it all.

Hi Darren,

I take your point, however, my reason for considering a
contract is that I would like some security if my phone ever
needed replacing again.

If you've been following this thread, you'll remember me
saying that this need for a new phone was caused by me
having my N82 stolen, and if that were to happen in the
future, I feel I would not want to have to pay for both a
replacement to my Talks Licence and a new phone, and if I
remember correctly, contract phones are replaceable at
hardly any cost, whereas replacing a Pay as You Go phone is
almost as expensive as buying a new phone if I am correct.
