John,

I guess I am not sure what you are wanting? I run my mikes,
turntable, tape deck, mini disc, and another computer's audio thru a
mixer and then to the input jack on my main system where I do all
the recording. Studio Recorder handles that just fine. Are you
sure you are setting the record input in the computer's soundcard
mixer with line-in as the item that is checked to receive input for
recording? As I am sure you probably know you can get to that
control either from the entertainment / volume settings in
accessories or from the control panel under sounds and audio. Just
remember that you have to set 1 input as your recording input. Just
checking line-in under playback doesn't mean that what you are
hearing is what is going to get recorded.

When I mentioned the use of mixers, sorry, but I was refering to
external
mixers.
I work for a radio reading service, and was thinking along the
lines of
broadcast equipment and the like.

I found that if I plug my external mixer in to the mic input, I had
to
adjust all my pots down to compensate for the mic input. If SR had
a line
input it woodn't be necessarry to do that.
