Cool Roy.

We dumps all the hot spot settings in to one .ini file
which I really pushed for separating the different apps in to different files when it was getting off the ground but Aaron didn't see it that way 'grin'.

But jaws hsc is definitely
out in front, we isn't quite as good at that part of it but getting there I hope.

I actually haven't renewed my SMA with we,
and don't plan to,
until they fix their program,
I can not run version
9 on my system for some reason.
It's got to be a we issue because jaws and NVDA both run fine,
I tried the beta and they ran ok but the official 9 version just puked on my system, I think it's some sort of video issue.

So am testing with an older version of we the 8.4 version.

Will poke around with we but when my jaws gets here,
will be good,
then I can get stuck in to it without being shut down every 40 minutes 'grin'.

am thinking of an idea of writing a program that will convert between the hsc file format and the one used by window-eyes hotspot app.
of course this will also require a feature match between the two.
WindowEyes , besides dealing real well with the UI Automation stuff , also sees the view-related menus in Sonar x3 and platinum

cheers
Roy.

No not at all.

Simply a multiple tool user,
I didn't start out with jaws, but learned jaws so I could better teach my students,
because most of them were jaws users but I have been able to do things other jaws users couldn't because of my facility with multiple readers, Roy is like that too, he uses window-eyes and NVDA.

You want to know something funny?

I used window-eyes to find all the stuff in sessiondrummer 3 and then scripted it with hsc and autohot,
because window-eyes read the tool tips better, but jaws had the hsc stuff everybody else was used to using.

the only thing I admit to is maybe not automatically knowing the very advanced stuff in jaws,
but if I were really a jaws hater, I wouldn't be here.

I just think jaws isn't the only way to do things,
and sometimes you can find out stuff by poking around with other tools.

For instance, I'd like to know why window-eyes is working more reliably with the ui basic stuff while jaws isn't
and NVDA isn't either,
that is very curious.

Have you tried with another screen-reader just for grins?

Yes, these dialogs don't navigate exactly as one would expect using
the standard Windows keyboard shortcuts. Control+Tab is the way to go.

Also, from the Help pull down menu in Platinum, I tried to hit the
"download documentation" so that I could then select to only use
On-Line documentation. This worked in X3, but with Platinum when I
clicked the Download documentation item under Help, I was brought to a
web page where I had to select my product. Unfortunately, the
ComboBox on that page wasn't working with JAWS.

If you can figure out how to use on-line Help with Platinum, that
would be very helpful.

Thanks.

One thing you guys I noticed that xray had been turned on in platinum,
so you definitely want to disable that.

Man they dumped everything in that one preferences area, there are a
ton of tabs in there, I was never seeing everything, mousing around
but when I control tabbed, everything showed up.

Silliness, I don't know why I didn't think to do that, that's so
obvious with child windows, I do that everywhere else automatically to
get to plug windows and such to see if it works.

Going to go stand in the dum dum corner now.
'grin'.

Ok more strangeness.

I got the tracks list to light up finally for a while in jaws.

Now when I use the control and arrow keys to change volume or pan and
such it moves by one increment value, like going from 127 to 126 but
it says no children, no objects so it's trying to do something else,
but it's looping back around to do the pan function or volume, or
what ever it's own.

Now this is strange.

When ever I fire up jaws, I get some sort of window that says
something like hud fb and nothing will read.

I can fire up window-eyes and dismiss the window and get basic track
navigation, I've gotten things to light up a few times with jaws,
but none of the keys work as expected, not alt 1 not control shift
f12 for tracks list, it is weird.

I have got the resolution set right, I actually had it bigger but I
put it at 1280 by 1024 I know the scripts are loaded because I do
insert q and get the blind sonar deal, so go figure.

but with window-eyes everything lights up.

Well, as much as it can, you know what i mean.
