I bred for 25 yrs., averaging one litter a yr. Never a bloat. My GSD's were
kenneled and out & had time in. A Ch. Sire that I used, many yrs back, died
of bloat. I believe that his well known sire was behind dogs that bloated. I
strongly question food, how they are fed & environment.
One of my daughters is a quarter horse breeder.....her lines are based on a
well known horse, Impressive Flair. "Feed, Pasture" are a major part of the
equation.........she claims.

Right you are, Sherry. I came home a few years ago to find a 3 year
old bitch dead of bloat in a crate--later found out that her sire AND
3 siblings in her litter had also bloated. The Kid bloated right in
front of me--she was 14 and a half--and in the house. And Ketchy (her
dam) bloated at 14 in the kennel (I kept her there while in school as
she was becoming incontinent)--and her strong character forced her to
stay alive till I got home, so we could say good-bye. She died on the
way to my vet's, who is 10 minutes away.) Bloat is hereditary.
