I will be 73 in a couple of months, and the reason I stopped breeding
practically before I started is because my pups have a lifelong home w/me, if
for
some reason the owners give them up. (I just got my gorgeous Jenny back!!!!
Five and a half years old...too many new toys, I guess, no time for the dog).
I'm completely healthy, nothing wrong at all, but can you imagine if I had a
litter now, and got dogs back in another 5-6 years? I'm lucky that my son
loves the Shepherds and they will be fine.
I believe that the decision to keep breeding when a person is a certain age
is of course individual, but it certainly should be serious, well thought out
decision and for the sake of the dogs.
