Did you actually have a judge tell you that you lost because a dog gaited wide
for a step or two going away??? Did this same judge actually tell you that it
was okay to them for another dog to come wide coming???
I guess it's hard to answer your question, since I am sure you are talking
about a specific situation.??
However - I would say what you have described does not happen every weekend?and
I can't see judges penalizing a dog for going away wide for 2 steps..if they
cleaned it up quickly.??I would assume that your incident was an isolated one
and/or that the judge had more reasons other than the 2 steps going away as
reasons to put the other one up.?

I thought I'd start another line of interest as far as movement goes...
When doing down & backs, why are dogs that are a little wide going away( I mean
just for a step or two) are penalized for this fault more then dogs that are
wide (very wide is some cases) when coming back to the judge the whole
distance?
Is there a difference of importance on going away vs coming at you and if so
what is it?
