Not arguing?at all here Michelle, I just see it differently from my perspective in the ring.? I was at a show recently that you were at too and one of the judges consistently penalized both faulty going and faulty coming.?? From my viewpoint in the ring every weekend I don't see it easier to win with one over the other (faulty coming vs going), but that is just my opinion.?? You just have to figure out which judges will give a little on which and take appropriate entries to them.? In the perfect world, all dogs would be clean coming & going....but if all dogs were perfect we wouldn't need judges to sort out whose attibutes are great enough to outweigh any faults.?? I do think the best judges do try to find greatness in their winner's, not seek out faults and end up with less than greatness.??? Personally, I would take a dog with?multiple great attibutes but one glaring fault over a dog with no faults, but in my opinion nothing great to offer.? Did this same judge actually tell you that it was okay to them for another dog to come wide coming??? > > I guess it's hard to answer your question, since I am sure you are talking about a specific situation.?? > However - I would say what you have described does not happen every weekend?and I can't see judges penalizing a dog for going away wide for 2 steps..if they cleaned it up quickly.??I would assume that your incident was an isolated one and/or that the judge had more reasons other than the 2 steps going away as reasons to put the other one up.? > > Jeff Pyle > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Michelle Graham <vicisheps@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: showgsd-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <showgsd-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Fri, 6 Jun 2008 1:18 pm > Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] REF: going away vs coming at you > > > > I thought I'd start another line of interest as far as movement goes... > > When doing down & backs, why are dogs that are a little wide going away( I mean > just for a step or two) are penalized for this fault more then dogs that are > wide (very wide is some cases) when coming back to the judge the whole distance? > > Is there a difference of importance on going away vs coming at you and if so > what is it? > -- > Michelle > veni, vedi, "ViciSheps" > home of RBIF CH Vici's Wind Walker, OFA'd > Am & Can CH Vici's Abilene V ShadowValley > ============================================================================ > POST is Copyrighted 2007.
