When we were campaigning our Multiple BIS/BISS Ch. Mt. Maples Bewitched at
White Oak (SAMMY) we also saw the nasty side of Jim. From the day we started
showing our bitch we admitted she had a missing premolar. OMG you should
have heard the attacks that man (Jim) made on the bitch. And yes you could not
argue the fact she had a missing premolar but besides that the bitch was
structurally very correct and she had breed type to die for. If you would
check
the record book I would be willing to bet that no GSD in the last 15 years has
challenged to compete against Jimmy as well as this bitch. But Margaret and
I also have tuff skin and if we believe in something we go for it. To this
day I believe we brought to the ring a show dog that belonged. With hardly
any advertisement and some personal medical difficulties the bitch went on to
win 30+ Best in Shows despite the power of Jimmy knocking her everyday.
Sammy lost in points that year to Jimmy and a very nice bitch (Belle Starr) at
the very end of the year but it was all worth it. We did an awful lot with
far
much less $$$ being spent and were able to show that we also had a dog worth
the show world seeing.
I guess the funny part that I chuckle about today is the genetic pool of the
dogs being promoted today by this influenced handler probably has more
trouble with missing teeth than the bitch that was so attacked. In closing I
can
also say Ch.Mt. Maples Bewitched at Oak has produced two small litters and she
will ROM and all the offspring have all there teeth.
In closing let me say I respect the mans ability to win. How he goes about
it when someone else competes with him I dont respect. And I have said all
along you can not go to a handler and take his word on his animal. He is PAID
to promote his dog and yes maybe to be critical of what he competes with.
So iam not mad at all I believe it goes with the territory and good judges,
exhibitors, breeders, etc. should be able to see thru these actions.
