I was aware they were toying with that idea. The background seems to be
that folks interested in performance stuff have been ILP-ing dogs of
questionable origin forever (GSD mix registered as a GSD, Lab mixes as Lab or
Rottie
ILPs etc.), and perhaps once the individuals competing saw what fun it all
was,
they would wander over to the pure-bred side of the fence. Not sure how
that has worked historically, but for what it's worth, I'm dead set against
it.
I think it will lend an air of credibility to all of the Puggles and
Labradoodles, etc.
I always thought the AKC was there to promote the breeding of pure bred dogs
too.
On a parallel subject...now I've seen everything. Outside of group of high
end retail stores, I saw a well dressed man holding a white, well groomed dog
of questionable origin. Maybe a Maltese-mix??? Or a VERY BAD Maltese.
Anyway, really weird hairdo. THEN the well dressed man turned to walk in the
other direction and would you believe (sitting down?????)...the dog's tail
hair
was dyed fuchsia.
