In UKC they allow pure bred dogs to be crossed with other breeds to strengthen
the overall dogs. As long as registration is kept, the dogs are not to be
shown in conformation, but they keep track of the lines, and after 5
generations of pure breeding again, the dogs can be shown again. This allows
for healthier dogs, and often a loss of many undesirable traits such as genitic
disease.

With all the problems our dogs have, I have considered going to a Mal, or
short coated Collie, to get something in the lines that would dilute the mega,
bloat, and many other diseases of genetic predisposition.

There are just too many. Our dogs come from a very few original dogs and to
make things worse, at least twice our dogs have been pushed through a pin hole
of one single dog. The results are not favorable in many ways.

Don't, please!!!!! attack me, this is my OPINION. And it is soliciated, as
is everyone's who is not glued to the ring at the National. So this is what I
think.

We should breed outside our own breed, and back in. There was a study done
with Dalmations, they used black Lab's and after 5 generations, the Dal's
looked like Dal's, and not a trace of Lab could be found at all. But the
deafness and other specific issues were cut out too. It was a good thing.

Now if AKC is considering allowing cross breds to be registered with an IPL
number just for obedience and agility and dance, what do we care? What
possible affect will that have on us? Really? So some obedience classes at
shows might be bigger, or might need to have more than one ring and judge, not
a problem as I see it. Better than giving Hunte a carte blanche, maybe?

Rather than jump up and scream, be sure of the rules and the reason before we
start to panic on this one. It likely is not going to be a problem for us, and
it might allow us to make our dogs healthier in the long run.

It is people like Hunte that we need to keep out of our precious clubs. they
are the danger, as they see our carefully bred and nurtured dogs as a comidity
to be sold for a price but never really cared for.

I am totally against this. We were talking about this at herding class the
other day. If the AKC is going to become a mutt club then the Parent Club had
better start there own registry because the AKC will no longer mean much. I
wonder if the AKC is in that much financial trouble?

Gee maybe we could start a GSD X club.

I received a call from the AKC yesterday. I thought oh goodie, information
on my application.

Nope, it was a survey. They asked me 5 questions --- ALL pertaining to the
following:

Would I be in favor of the AKC starting a service that allows MIXED BREED
DOGS to be "registered". For mixed breed dogs to be eligible for
competition in AKC events. I don't know about the rest of you, but I
thought the whole point of all KENNEL CLUBS was to promote the breeding and
perfection of the PUREBRED DOG.

I sure hope that someone at the National takes Carmen by the hand and tells
him he better get that organization under control!

I mean for pete's sake! First this Petland thing, then this Hunte thing and
now "mixed breed" dogs?
