I just got in to the showing scene about three years ago and have to say it
has been at times anything but pleasant. Having someone who is suppose to be
helping you in the breed but only to find out they are doing nothing but
insulting you to your own friend makes a person want to get out of it. BUT
with the help of some very compassionate and trustworthy people I have
realized I deserve to be here too and I do have great intentions when it
comes to our noble breed. And to those individuals I hope you all know who
you are for I want to say THANK you. Thank you for being there for me and
thank you for your guidance and for believing in me. I was told I was too
trustworthy of people and let people take advantage of my inexperience. It
has been a hard road and very emotional for my family and I have fallen in
love with a handful of dogs only to have to either place or return them due
to them having health problems. I am happy to say that through all the hard
times and doing a lot of research I was able to finally have two great dogs.
Miss MaLea from Sandra and Leon Bruner of Samuri Shepherds who has been
training for Competition obedience and will be also shown in conformation.
Thank you Sandra and Leon. And also to Julie Bertrand-Hearty of Heartcove
Shepherds for Mr. Gehren who is also being trained for competition obedience
and when old enough will be hitting the conformation ring. Thank you Julie.
So even though it has been a hard road and I thought for a while maybe I was
not worthy of being in the GSD world there are some very great people who
have truly helped me realize I do belong here and that I do have some great
ethics to bring to the table. I am still inexperienced but am definitely
making good progress due to the support of those who are willing to take the
time and help a newbie. Again to those great people I want to say THANK
YOU from the bottom of my heart and I hope I have made it clear to each and
every one of you how much you mean to me.

Which is very sad. I am sucking up information from the list, and breeders
in
my club. They have taught me so much in such a few short years. And even
though I don't always see eye to eye, or do exactly as they say, I respect
their
advice.
Sometimes I wish I had more help, but I feel like I'm pestering people.

Everyone once in awhile I find the need to comment on a subject and this is
one. It has hit to close to home recently. Seems that more often than
not these past few years, I have been the one burnt and discouraged by
trying to be a good mentor and friend to our breed.
Many years ago when I started in this breed, I found myself saying the same
thing that is stated below. People were not friendly and I felt like I
had the big "L" on my forehead and no one wanted to associate with a
beginner
and give advice. I vowed not to be like that.
Well....now I understand why people don't reach out like they should. I
even went so far as to give my pick of the litter to new show people. It
was a huge mistake (but must say, it looks like it is turning out). Seems
"newbies" say they want to learn and listen but don't.
I find it is better to stick to oneself instead of offering advice and
help. Dog showing is my hobby and I use to have so much fun. These past
years, the fun is going away and I am starting to rethink about continuing
this
hobby that I love so much. A person can be friendly, helpful, and try to
do all the right things for this breed and still get stabbed in the back and
trampled upon. That is why so many of us experienced people are backing
off and keeping to ourselves. Kindness is not look upon as just that
anymore. JMHO.

advice on showing and she was greatly appreciative for my thoughtfulness.

very excited to show but was becoming disappointed in how she was treated.

prevailed through alot of mean remarks and laughs behind my back. It's the
love for the breed that keeps me going. . My point is Help these new people
yes, there competition but that's what it's all about. And without
the new young and upcoming exhibitors and handlers you all ask, where will
we be in the near future. I'd like to see more kindness and introductions
to the new people you meet at shows. You never know they may teach us all a
few new things and what does it hurt in meeting new friends and answering
a few questions. Alittle kindness can go along way.
