If you don't think Medicare and Insurance get a HUGH PRICE breaks. Ask what a
one month stay in a nursing home cost, if you pay CASH. Their cost is 40-60%
LESS.
There is another side to this story, When the Government 1st got into the
Prescription business, they came up with a formula (Normal cost + a handling
fee $2.00 back in stone age) but there was a catch - you could not charge the
government more than your other patients. Now at that time Phenobarbital, and
thyroid sold for about $1.00/100, Regular insulin was $1.00, and Birth control
pills were sold at COST 2.95-3.95/ month. Now we had to give the government the
same price and wait 3-6 months for payment or raise the price to everyone else.
Well you can see what happened, prices went sky high and the mom and pop
pharmecy have gone the way of the dinasour

I doubt that, since to accept insurance, they have to limit the cost of
proceedures. Also, no one has to accept medicare or other carriers, but they
seem to want the payments.
