I think it is neither productive, helpful, nor kind, to tell people that=
you are sorry about something you only have a few facts about.
Each individual, each vet, each diagnosis is different, and, sometimes, =
open to interpretation.
A few of you know that my beautiful Ch. DianaBanana is fighting for her =
life. The reason I had not posted about this is because I knew I would =
get the kind of responses that Mr. Hill is getting. I wrote to him priv=
ately to tell him my experience, including the drugs and treatment Di is=
getting, as well as the name and phone number of the specialist treatin=
g her, should he care to call or have his vet call.
Before I received Di's diagnosis (auto-immune mediated anemia----NOT hem=
olitic) and prognosis, a lady at training class said to me, "Oh, I knew =
someone whose dog had something like that and he bled to death; it was a=
wful!!" Well, I blew up at her. Maybe being a cancer survivor makes me=
see things differently, but, I really do NOT appreciate naysayers and o=
ther negative people.

Diana is only 7 years old and I will continue to fight for her. Her att=
itude is better than most people I know!! Don't any of you DARE to tell=
me that she is dying!! When/if her vet tells me that we can do no more=
and that she is suffering, I will deal with it; for now we are looking =
forward to playing fetch again, many more times!! She is eating good, l=
ooks much better, and is her usual cheerful, playful, happy...........to=
tally SOUND self!! =
I thought Oak's post was interesting, as Diana had boosters on 8/18 and =
needed a transfusion on 11/12!! Right within the 90 day timeframe. Thi=
s is something I will investigate. Are we killing some of our dogs whil=
e we are just trying to protect them and do the right thing?? =
By the way, I know several people who died terrible deaths from lung can=
cer, breast cancer, my own lymphoma, leukemia, colon cancer, ad nauseum,=
but, I can guarantee you that I NEVER tell newly diagnosed people these=
horrible stories!! That is just plain MEAN, IMHO.

Simply awful. The docs at both Cornell and Penn diagnosed it w/ a nucl=

Ed, we are very sorry to hear this. There is no known cause, just many =
speculations. Sometimes a reaction to vaccinations. Usually shows up abo=
ut =
90 days after the last given vaccine. Can be hereditary, as it is an =
autoimmune condition. Usually takes steroids to get the body to stop =
attacking itself. Trouble is the steroids destroy the body's ability to =

fight off any disease and other trouble crops up. The prognosis is not g=
ood. =
We lost a very promising 1 1/2 year old to it. I would not want to go =
through it again. :{(
