This also reminds me of an incident a few years back, when California had an
election coming up with an initiative on the ballot to allow Indian Casinos to
add more slot machines. I was taking a night school class at a local college
and was discussing the ballot initiative with a bright, intelligent, young
housewife/student. She said she was all for the Indian's success with their
casinos, but, felt that they were making "too much money." I asked her if she
thought that Bill Gates made "too much money." She said, "No, he works for it
by running his own company." DUH!!

What, if any, are the results of the following scenarios? Your quiz for
the week.
1) A very wealthy individual pays his/her handler a LARGE 4 figure
bonus for a down the line Select rating. Does this action set a precedence?
2) Out of several options will handlers automatically choose to handler
the dog/bitch owned by Mr. & Mrs. Deep pockets over a superior dog/bitch
owned by Mr. & Mrs. Average pockets?
3) Are some of our best dogs/bitches not being shown due to the costs
at Futurities/Nationals?
4) If yes to #3 is the breed compromised because of this?
5) Is the PC loosing participants for the Futurity/Maturity and
National due to handler fees or cost in general?
6) Are we reducing participation due to "bidding wars" for top, well
known handlers?
7) Do Mr. and Mrs. Deep Pockets have an obligation to avoid over the
top bonuses for the general good of the breed and it's participants?
8) Do all breed handlers generally charge less per class because they
have several different breeds to exhibit?
9) Are the majority of GS handlers working regular jobs (other than
handling)
10) Do handlers have an obligation to promote the integrity of the
breed?
10)Do handlers supplementing income by boarding, training, breeding,
& selling show stock realize sufficient income to enable them to
Reduce handling fees to their clients?
11) Generally, are handlers and breeders pricing/selling 'show
prospects' for about the same amount?
12) What gtds should be made by reputable handlers and also breeders
for 'top show prospects'
13) What if ever are the circumstances under which money should be
refunded in lieu of replacements?
14) What are the main obligations of a handler to his/her client - what
are the responsibilities of an owner/exhibitor to his/her handler?
