Yeah, I thought of that too. The seller doesn't know how it works. That would
be nice if it turns out to be the case.

Hi Louis.
Wet in the UK too!
Adding to what has been said by Carlos and Hauke, I have often found that
sellers do not know how some old cameras work or some of their quirks. It is
possible he does not know that the lens has to be pulled out and rotated to
lock before the shutter can be released.
You have to have the camera in your hands to be able to get a feel for what
might be wrong.
The SE and TE, with their LED meter readout, used a lot of battery power and
also were criticised by having to make adjustments to the dials on the front
with such a small camera to your eye when compared to the S and T versions.
You might find that a handheld meter is more convenient although it does
reduce the portability and speed of use of your equipment somewhat.
I have a full set of 35 cameras, they are very pocketable, great fun to use
and give brilliant results. Have lots of enjoyment: when you receive it, let
us know if you get a better idea of what's at fault.

Subject: [rollei_list] Rollei 35 SE - Advice wanted
Hello Everybody,
Greetings from rainy Vancouver, BC!
I will soon be welcoming a new addition to my camera collection, a Rollei 35
SE. I am buying this from an eBay seller in Canada who is selling it as Not
Working. So I know this is a risk but the pictures show the camera to be in
good condition. I wanted to know your advise on the following:
1) The seller has not tested this camera with a new battery so hopefully the
light meter will work but assume even if the light meter does not work that I
would still be able to use an external light meter in place.
2) Is there any electronics that activate the shutter in this camera? The
seller reports the shutter is not working, so maybe a mechanical problem if
it is not connected with the lack of battery.
3) Any advise on repairs or maintenance to the mechanical part of the camera
will be most welcome.
Cheers,
Louis Smit
