We have the same situation at our church. Unfortunately, little can be done
about it because of our church adopting a less formal, more casual aura
around worship. The time before the service is often social--people
greetingeach other. It's hard for the organist to concentrate, and harder
for those who want some peace and quiet to prepare for worship. I had a
horrible time concentrating on my Easter prelude--I guess that's why I'm not
a recitalist, just a lowly church organist.
Hard to know what to do, Tim. I fear it's a lost cause. It's something
thatwe are victimized by the changes in society and culture.
