The underwater launch is obviously to cool the fins and keep the hot glue
that's holding them on from melting.

In spite of the inconvenient lake currently in our lakebed, I really don't
see any advantage to launching from underwater.
Now, maybe if we only had a pontoon launch system and some hovercraft for
recovery...
