FWIW I have swapped a couple of G-Claron lenses to (Polaroid) Copal shutters. I first carefully measured the length of the Claron's when they were in their barrel. Then I swapped the elements to the Copals and measured again. For each lens (I did 3) the length was exactely the same, and I have not observed any loss of sharpness in my set-up.
