I've had the black flecks too but it's been a long
time sing I've had to use KRST. One thing I remember
from using it is it has a strong ammonia smell. Does
yours?

The odor is normal. The largest ingredient in KRST
(other than water) is ammonium thiosulfate AKA rapid fixer.
I am not usually bothered by the smell but I may not be
sensitive to it.
