Nail the two 2x4s together then cut them as if they were a single 4x4.


Nails are kind of permanent, and pulling them out can make a mess, so I prefer to use clamps. A radial arm saw or a big chop saw is very nice to have for this job.


I found that clamps tend to slide. Double-headed nails and a backing strip (under the hammer) work fine.
