Try putting a couple drops of a wetting agent (Foto-Flo) in the pre-soak. I used to have trouble with air bells on 120 Panatomic-X (RIP) and the pre-soak with Foto-Flo cleared up the problem.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Some of them are already part of my
routine. In this case, I prewet with tap water (cooled to 20C) for 1 min
with vigorous banging to dislodge any bubbles. I've been mixing the
developer with distilled water ever since we moved to Tucson. When I add
the developer I agitate and bang the heck out of it for the first 30 sec. No swamp cooler, just A/C, but the vent is near my drying line. Film was
not repackaged, and had a 2009 date on it.

The bubbles in fixer is an interesting thought, and I'll try re-fixing. That would explain increased density, but I'm surprised that I wouldn't
see it in the clear parts of the film. I have another roll from the same
batch I need to soup. We'll see how that works.

Thanks, again!

Do you cool your house with a swamp cooler? If so how close is the vent
to where you load your film onto to reels? Just a thought?

After the recent discussion on water spots on 35 mm (but not 120), I
was dismayed to see spots on my film from my trip to San Francisco
shot with my 1940's Voigtländer. Then, on closer inspection, I
didn't see the "water spots" under reflected light, but rather as

areas of increased density within the grey bits of the image. I
tried washing with (a lot!) distilled water, but they were still
there. I would appreciate the input from the collective wisdom of
this group. A sample is at:

Randumb details: Bergger film @ ASA 200, developed in Xtol 1:1 @ 20C
for 11.5 min, washed with tap water (here, it's somewhat hard, to be
kind, but the Navy used seawater), then a 2' soak in distilled H2O,
and 1 min in same with a drop of photoflow in 1 liter.

Thanks for taking a look and sharing your insights!
