Hi Rein,

I wish I could be more specific. It has been a few weeks since I
played with pskmail, and even then I was confused. I set up fldigi as
per the manual. The problem I was having was that I could ping and I
could connect (I connected successfully a few different servers).
Automatic mode switching seemed to work OK, but after a few exchanges
the servers would stop responding to my client. This could happen in
any mode. I reasoned that as the Java client is cross-platform and
(presumably) the same under windows or linux, and the hardware
remained unchanged, then it must be the fldigi setup that was the
problem. I found the fact that the problem did not appear to be
isolated to a single mode or type of mode interesting.

Since then I have started working high in the mountains in the Massif
Central in France. I have brought some /P equipment with me, plus
data interface etc. This laptop is not very good but would probably
work. I should have a telscopic pole arriving in the next few days,
if you would like, I could try to replicate the problem once it has
arrived?
