Hi,
Now that you have JAWS speech back, I would suggest simply using the system
Restore wizard again and going back to a restore point before you made the
environment variable change. The restore you did sounds like it simply undid
the registry change. The System Restore wizard is perfectly accessible and
I've used it on numerous occasions when JAWS suddenly decided it wasn't
licensed any more.

Further to my last mail, I have been able to restore my system and JAWS has
started speaking again. However, I have the same error message saying:
<begin>
Windows cannot find 'C:\windows\sysWOW64\\system32\\slui.exe'
make sure you type the name correctly and then try again.
<end>
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Thanks in advance.

A system restore sounds like a good idea. You can do this with:
1. Restart your system
2. When the system first boots, type F8 to bring up the boot menu
3. Select the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option
4. Log-on as administrator if needed
5. At your command prompt type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
6. Hit Enter
6. This will open the system restore wizard.
However, I don't think that you will have a screen reader at that point.
