Ugh, I despise QuickTime/iTunes and WMP, all plagued with DRM. And, 
pretty much all programs want to take over file associations now. MS 
wanted to lock down all associations in windows 7 to MS defaults but 
they thought otherwise. Eventually ;)

I use eMusic for music downloads, Winamp for audio playback, Exact Audio 
Copy or EAC for ripping, and DivX for video playback. Each is free and 
play pretty much every format available.

However, whenever I want an audio stream from CBC I have to use Real 
Alternative but that has been quite awhile since many streams end up on 
Youtube now. Eventually they do.
