Boy, I feel silly, never thought about disconnecting it from the motherboard. The reason I want to try another hard drive is to see if a 7200 RPM drive will be faster than the one in the computer, which I'd guess is 5400 RPM. The BIOS probably won't recognize a very large drive but I'll see what happens.
