I had a similar (nearly) problem when my Digital Camera was mistakenly
pulled out of it's cradle whilst the latter was still connected by USB
to the computer and the SD memory card was open to a program on the
computer. Afterwards, I could only see 158 out of 430 pictures which I
had taken; the rest being corrupted.

I Googled "Photo Recovery" and a number of Do-it-yourself programs
came up which I was too nervous to try. However I got into contact with
a company in Liverpool England who specialise in Photo and Hard drive
recovery and after sending my SD card, I received back (the day after it
arrived in Liverpool) some samples of pictures which I knew were on the
card but could not see.

I then sent off approx GBP50 and within a few days got a DVD back with
all the 430 pictures.

If this is of interest, I will try and dig out the contact details. NOTE
I have no experience of their HD Recovery but given the success with my
digital photos, I myself would have no hesitation in using the company.
