It will not reset by itself. There is a small recessed button that is near impossible to depress accidentally. I had a Netgear router for my Mom's house. It lasted less than a year and it quit broadcasting. I could still pick up other wireless networks in the neighborhood so I knew it was the router. I bought a Linksys to replace it.
