So you're telling me that MTS can magically be invoked somewhere in the
outside world, without the database being configured for it?  I don't think
so.

At the time I sent the quoted message, I wasn't able to connect to the DB.
I can now, and every session is DEDICATED.  Which doesn't surprise me, since
the DB is not configured for MTS.

And MTS were being used, the hourly samples would not show 16MB free memory
in the large pool (out of 16M allocated).  THEY ARE NOT USING MTS!  Which is
why the error is so frustrating.

The only way to really tell whether you do or do not use MTS is from
V$SESSION.
If the SERVER column is "SHARED", then you are using MTS.

Default values can well give you MTS. Default value for dispatchers is to
start a disparcher for IPC and another one on localhost, port 1521.

The best thing is to check V$SESSION and statspack.
