The only way to really tell whether you do or do not use MTS is from V$SESSION.
If the SERVER column is "SHARED", then you are using MTS.

Default values can well give you MTS. Default value for dispatchers is to
start a disparcher for IPC and another one on localhost, port 1521.

The best thing is to check V$SESSION and statspack.
