Hi David. I agree, and I would be happy to do that if someone could read my
scratch notes. Might be better to send them samples and undo them.
However, consider thus far in general terms what has happened:
1. I tried that with the two people who were at one time here in Ottawa
with a company called Tactile Vision Graphics, and who offered and wanted to
handle the optacon things, and they caused a lot of trouble and are now in
Windsor still suckinng money from here and there, having run up large bills
here and causing a million dollar loss and the loss of a good engineering
team including badly needed programmers. Not only for me did they cause
great loss and disruption, but to another who was quite reasonable with them
here in Ottawa.
2. A company here in Ottawa who is more interested in control than in money
(although avarice does follow as a close second for them) accused me of
trying to be secretive and devious, when I had put just about everything I
could up somewhere here and there on the net, and they proved impossible to
work with for other reasons as well as their mis-trust of me. As long as
they followed my notes and work, which I had mostly done decades ago, they
stayed on track. Nothing new was done there, but they tried to claim it was
new and control things rather than being open-handed and even-handed.
3. I did work for a time with two others who were good and I believe
honest, whose names I have written in my notes but cannot recall at this
time. One of them is named Rachel. Eventually, they chose to research and
to work with grapheen, which is fine and well, and I wish them all good
success. If I thought I could help them, I'd lend them any help they could
use from me. I do wish them well. The lady was a physicist and skilled in
research, and the male I believe had something to do with programming.
4. I attempted about half a dozen times to contact directly--and several of
them at that--the Center For Braille Innovation, and offered them the
technology at no cost to them and no strings attached (along with several
braille display modules designs to test out)but I heard nothing from them.
No doubt they are busy not only with tactile stuff of this and that, but
also each with their respective careers, families and so forth, and so I
certainly wouldn't fault them for not being abel to link up. I certainly
wish them well and the best of British luck as is the saying.
5. I bounced the basic concepts of a new optacon off several "blindness"
political groups in the U.S. (you know the main ones), and I was informed
bruskly that the optacon is a DEAD device, and it barely had served its
purpose when it was around decades ago. In fact, they virtually ridiculed
the idea of another optacon. When I informed them of new capabilities, and
that a new optacon in this age is like comparing a jet fighter to an old
prop biplane, my assertions were simply dismissed as someone who likes old
technology. Ironically, being a Luddite, this is partly true, but it has no
relation to a new optacon's development.
6. Several years ago there was a nasty flap on this list involving a guy
named something like Reinoud from Northern England. If he did send some
challenging messages on the list as did I, I received many, many nasty,
severe threats and open hostility OFF the list. At that point (I no longer
need his software stuff), we could have worked together to produce a
wonderful result. He ended up making a few changes here and there,
incorporating my work from here including terms, and putting his name and
brand on it. Although I could not care less, it might lead to some future
legal issues, albeit I'm not sure about that at this time. He had actually
wanted me to pay Him literally thousands to continue my own work. Almost
all of his hostility toward me was fierce and uncivilized, and sent to my
private e-mail box and not on the list. I didn't take it personally; I
usually have a sardonic outlook on these things. However, I did imagine
future trouble for ongoing development; again, I have no knowledge of these
things. Even if the list records tell the story when sifted and correlated
and organized, there still remains his internet articles with my work
embedded under his name. I do not need permission from anyone to do my work
or deligate it to whom I please, and I don't have to pay someone thousands
to do my work unless I sell it to them or they assume responsibility and I
bow out. This is how I feel.
So, David, somewhere I've done something wrong.

big issue is of course, who wants to take over. Answer is
EVERYONE!
But who is capable of taking over, and run the project further? Who are
willing?
Even, as Charles' health seems to slow the whole project considerably,
perhaps sharing the project now could help in speeding things up. That
is, you Charles could let someone take over, but still be there for
information and idea making. Yu could still convey your ideas and
thoughts on the project, to the take-over. They would then benefit from
all your hard endeavors. Should you on the other hand leave things
alone, hoping for someone to take over the day you are not here, things
will not be done. Noone will necessarily know what you intended with a
certain solution.
Coming from a programming experience, I can confirm the challenges of
taking over someone's job. Often the time and efforts it takes to
restore their whole line of thinking, guessing why they did things this
or that way, might be overwhelming. That much overwhelming, you simply
find it ten times quicker to sit down and start all over from scratch.
In reality, I do hold that would mean no new Optacon ever.
The only way to have someone really take over where you Charles might no
longer be able to perform, would be to let them be trained while you
still have the chance. That way, they will have the best foundation for
going on with the project. They still can ask all their questions, they
still can discus any ideas, and they still might draw from your
expertise - while you are still up running. Smiles.
Give it some thought.

schematics and other work you have done on the new Optacon to Dave Godfrey
or Rochard Oehm or somebody of your choice who could carry on for you. I
and all the rest of the list too would hate to see all your hard work lost
forever. Think about it?
