There you go, that's the way to do it. "Millennials" are missing out on so
much, unless they have had exposure to old tech.

My wife has a portable typewriter upstairs, though we have not used it for a
long time; but if I cannot get my HP Laserjet printer to print checks, I'm
gonna dust it off and put a new ribbon on it. I still know how to measure
space on a check, convert inches to spaces at 12 spaces per inch, and set tabs
for the fields. No doubt, I will use my Optacon for proofreading at least a
few checks while I tweak the tab positions.

I still have an IBM Correcting Selectric. Nothing nowadays is built like that
thing - it is solid.
Best from,
Carolyn

Yes, my husband and I have an IBM Selectric 2, but also have his Hermes manual
typewriter he got at graduation. We have had both in for a tune-up. Would
never get rid of a typewriter. My work also had one we all used, along with
our up-to-date computers. Isn't it great?

It is so great to hear that you use a manual typewriter. I learned how to type
on Mom’s manual in the 80s. Mom could type 80 words a minute on that. Happy
Thanks Giving from me as well to all of you!
Nothing is like the Optacon!

Hi,
I have a royal manual typewriter and I replaced the ribbon. I used the Optacon
to find out whether the ribbon was working. It looked right but it still was
not. I changed the setting on the typewriter. I guess I had it on stencil.
(smile).
Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Catherine
